Parking in Corfu Town Center – Free and Paid

Corfu Town is one of the most popular destinations on the Greek island of Corfu. As the main urban center on the island, it attracts a significant number of visitors, especially during the peak tourist seasons. Like many popular tourist destinations, parking in Corfu Town can be a bit challenging due to limited space and high demand. However, there are several options available for parking in and around the town.

Free Parking in and Around Corfu Town Center

Free parking spaces can be limited in Corfu Town, The Old Town and the Old Port area. In its majority its street parking is free. The availability and ease of finding a free parking space is dependent on the time of year, Day of the week, and Time of the day. e.g. Finding a free parking space in Corfu town at noon, on a Monday to Friday during August is nearly impossible.

Please note that while this map highlights The main road parking, there may also be parking available on side streets, the ones between Douglas Obelisk and Corfu Palace are very popular. Most people aim to park as close to Corfu town so if you want a spot from Douglas Obelisk all the way round to Central Market during weekdays then you have to get there early in the morning or between 3-5 pm. These areas as taken up first no matter what time of the year as locals use them to go to work, shop or go for coffee or food in town. During the day is not unusual to see people cycling over and over trying to find a free space and at the same time wasting fuel and time. The same areas also get full during weekends but slightly later.

Here are some important notes:

  • Always read the traffic signs before parking as there are no parking areas.
  • Nautilus to the Old Fort is approximately a 30 minutes walk. If you park that far it may be a considerable distance for some, especially during the hottest part of the day.
  • From the Corfu Palace Hotel, the road mostly becomes one-way. If you’re unable to find parking at your intended location, you’ll need to circle back as there won’t be an option to turn around.
  • The road from Douglas Obelisk towards the Old Fort closes to cars after 18:00 during the month of August to alleviate congestion.

Spilia, Old Port Free Parking

The only Free Car Park Around the town Center is at Spilia (Old Port). This is an open-air Municipal Parking so there is no shade to put your car under. As it is free it is very popular during peak hours and very difficult to find a vacant spot. Here is its location on Google Maps

Spianada Parking

The Spianada Parking is a Municipal Parking area located at the Town Square (Kato Platia) in front of the Liston next to the cricket pitch and Close to the Asian Art Museum.

The parking facility operates on a flat fee basis, charging 3 Euros for the entire day. Equipped with automatic barriers and payment machines, it also features a display indicating the number of available parking spaces. Due to its strategic location, this is the most sought-after paid parking lot, often filling up quickly. A queue forms just before the entrance, where cars wait for a parking spot to become available. Once a car exits, the next in line is granted entry. However, if you’re not at the front of the queue, expect potential wait times exceeding 30 minutes.

Parking Old Port

The parking area at the Old Port is typically situated within close proximity to the main attractions, making it easily accessible for visitors. Whether you plan to enjoy a leisurely stroll along the waterfront, indulge in local cuisine, or visit historical sites, parking at the Old Port allows you to conveniently access all these attractions without the worry of finding parking elsewhere. It has a flat rate of 5€ per day. It is situated very close to Corfu Parking 2 which is slightly cheaper to park.
